5G-based V2V broadcast communications: A security perspective

The V2V services have been specified by the 3GPP standards body to support road safety and non-safety applications in 5G cellular networks. It is expected use direct link (known as PC5 interface), well new radio interface 5G, provide a connectivity platform among vehicles. Particularly, vehicles will broadcast messages inform each other about potential hazards on road. In order function safely, robust security mechanisms are needed ensure authenticity of received trustworthiness message senders. These must neither add significantly latency nor affect performance applications. existing 5G-V2V standard allow protection be handled higher layer solutions defined ITS domain. However having solution at access conceivably preferable system compatibility reduce deployment cost. Accordingly, main aim this paper review options for future releases. Initially, summary communications corresponding service requirements presented. An overview application level also given, followed impending secure layer. Finally, presents relevant open issues challenges providing communication.
